I have read, dear G. V., your letter about Fin’s article [Yenotayevsky's]. You turned out to be much stricter. It seemed to me that the article was passable.
But your arguments fully convince me, and I agree with the amputation. I already spoke to the author
about the necessity of some changes and abridgments.
He
did not absolutely insist, but expressed “*das Sollen*", that it not
be cut too much, because otherwise he would find another place for the article.
We will try to write to the author: the address is there, but it is not very
convenient to write.
But I will not undertake to correct the article. You will have to
do it, if it is decided to run it.
I shake your hand firmly.
Yours, Frey.
Your criticism of Fin’s article [Yenotayevsky's] once again led
me to think about the poverty of the economic] section in "Iskra",
which you spoke about in Zurich.
Why don't you send anything for this section?
Starting with notes in V* column (4 thousand letters, 5-6 of your pages) regarding current events
such as the congress of cooperatives, new data on syndicates,
economic] reviews in Economist 1), major strikes, new statistical data, etc. etc. - and
ending with articles in 1 1/2-2 columns or feuilletons of up to 20-25 thousand letters
(up to 30 of your pages), all this would be so important!
And you, after all, apparently follow the economic] literature more than anyone, and it would be easiest for you to compile, at least sometimes, such

notes! Please, try and help us, otherwise Iskra will become
monotonous.
I, of course, have no intention of taking you away from work on the program, which is urgently needed
and first of all, but small notes and articles could be compiled in between, regarding new economic books] journals, etc.
The historical] section of Iskra is also weak: feuilletons with stories about European] revolutions, etc.
I think that it would also be possible to translate here.
Please send suitable material:
You said once that you had something in mind.
Yours, Frey.
I am still ailing and "suffering" over the pamphlet against Rabo-
*chie*] Delo 2), which is moving almost as slowly as a snail.
1) "Economist" - an English economic and statistical journal.
2) V. I. Lenin's work "What Is To Be Done?".
