V. I. LENIN - G. V. PLEKHANOV
12/VI — 01 [Munich].
I am writing to you, dear G. V., a few words to inform you that Ortodox's [L. I. Axelrod] article against Berdyaev 1) was sent to the printing house today. This article is intended for second place, i.e., after your editorial. Please send the title for it as soon as possible, otherwise the article is completely "headless."

We argued a little about the article with Arseniev [Potresov] and Velika [Zasulich]... They found the sallies against Kistyakovsky 3) to be *plump* 2) (2 X 2 = 5; and concerning the "bourgeois nature" of Berdyaev...

I shake your hand.

Yours, Petrov.

*} L. I. Axelrod's (Ortodox) article in No. 2-3 of "Zarya" - "Why we do not want to go back" regarding Berdyaev's work "Subjectivism and individualism in social philosophy" with a preface by I. B. Struve, St. Petersburg, 1901. N. A. Berdyaev in the 90s had contact with social democratic circles in Kyiv. He was arrested in March 1898. Shortly after his release from prison, he openly sided with opponents of Marxism and became one of the leaders of idealistic philosophy and reaction in Russia. (See letter 16, note 6.)
2) *Plump* - clumsy.
a) Kistyakovsky, Bogdan Alexandrovich (Fedor). He participated in the collections "Problems of Idealism" (1902) and "Vekhi" (1906), directed against Marxism, later a Cadet.
The place in Axelrod's article, which Lenin, Potresov and Zasulich argued about, is on p. 52, 59 No. 2-3 of "Zarya" and p. 114 and 124 of L. Axelrod's "Philosophical Essays" (published by Giz, 1923).
