Podolsk, Moscow Province. To Maria Aleksandrovna
Ulyanova. Kedrovaya House
6/IV. 1900.

I received a letter today from Manyasha (from 3. IV), dear mama, in which she scolds me for my silence. I am indeed guilty—I did not even congratulate you and Manyasha on April 1st. The thing is, I was again "swept up in a whirlwind" (as Nadya put it in her letter to our comrades in Siberia) on account of the arrival of the long-awaited traveler** (who has probably already returned home by now).
