we read an announcement in the *Russkie Vedomosti* about the *Nachalo* 128. It's good that I managed to finish my "markets" just in time for the beginning of the *Nachalo* (finally finished today. On Wednesday we'll send off the last two chapters) and now I'll be able to work freely on something current. I received one little book for review, but haven't had time to read it yet 129.

I don't remember if I wrote that Anatoly has been ailing the whole time. Another misfortune befell him: an order came through to transfer him to the village of Antsiferovo (several dozen versts north of Yenisei along the road to Turukhansk) 130 — a new place of exile as punishment because the exiled Makhnoveits (who arrived this winter) escaped and gave someone Anatoly's address. From this they concluded in some incomprehensible fashion that Anatoly must have known about the escape! Until Anatoly is sent away due to illness, he doesn't even go out. He has submitted a petition for transfer to the Minusinsk district or for transfer to Russia for treatment.

Nothing is known about Yulia's transfer.

From the village of Kazachinskoye (where A. A. Yakubova is) three exiles were also sent away (Lengnik — not far from us, Arefyev and Rostkovsky), so the Kazachinskoye colony has become very, very depleted.

Kurnatovsky (lives in the village of Kuraginskoe, about 100 versts from us) requested Shusha; they refused; now he is being transferred to the village of Ermakovo (about 40 versts from Shusha), where he will be completely alone.

The weather here is remarkably fine: the frosts are very mild (10-12°), clear days and already a spring sun. Not a Siberian winter!

I embrace you warmly and send greetings to all our people.

Your V. U.
